Leaders of The Revolutionary War
George Washington
George Washington was a very great leader to the colonists. He commanded the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, and helped the colonists become very successful against the British Forces. Washington was never qualified to run an army like he did during this war, considering he was trained to be a commander from afar, not from the middle of the battle field. George Washington proved to everyone that he could lead an army in the new style just as good as he could with the old style. He won so many battles and gave the colonists a sense of hope on the battlefield.

Ben FranklinBen Franklin was a part of the colonies for a very long time, even before the Revolutionary War started. Right before the war, he was sent over to London to be a messenger and spokesperson for the colonies. He stood up for the colonists by talking against the Acts and Documents that the British were proposing that could have effected the colonists and their rights. He returned to America a couple of days after the war had begun. As soon as he got back, he was assigned to be a delegate for the Second Continental Congress. He helped with writing the first draft of the Declaration of Independence, in which he suggested a lot of the ideas for it. He also negotiated and helped draft the Treaty of Paris, which ended the war as a whole. As you can see, he helped a lot with establishing and setting ground to America. Without Ben Franklin, it would have taken a lot longer for America to finalize their freedom and to write the rules and requirements to help keep our country going.

john burgoyneJohn Burgoyne was a British General during this time, and helped the British in many ways. He came to America for the war during the Battle of Bunker Hill, but was not satisfied with who he fought under, so he moved back to England and failed to participate in that battle. In 1776, Burgoyne convinced the King to let him lead his own army through Canada, and have a surprise attack coming from the other way. The King agreed and allowed him, as long as he would be trustworthy to Britain. He then set off for America once again, bu this time with a whole army behind him. He led this army and was very successful, but not quite successful enough to beat America.

Cornwallis lead many events during the Revolutionary War, including
campaigns against the colonists, many important battles, and introduced
many of the Acts that occurred prior to the war. He was a very brave
British General, and always believed in his soldiers. He lead his
soldiers into the majority of the battles that occurred during the
Revolutionary War, with the exception of the first few. He was very
ashamed when the Battle of Yorktown was won by the Americans,
considering he had just handed over his dignity, but he still continued
on with his life, not causing any more battles with the Americans. He
continued to be a British General and served in many other battles and
wars against other countries.countries.
